Details on how to find us and where to check in with maps and driving directions
DAY TRIP CHECK-IN: 1 Kaiteriteri-Sandy Bay Road, Kaiteriteri - OR at our Motueka office
Multi day trips check in our Motueka Office.
If you have picked up your tickets from our Motueka office, or if the booth is unattended, look for our boat on the beach and check in with our Boat Hosts.
Our office is located between the Shoreline Cafe and Kaiteriteri Camp Shop, across the road from the main beach. Look for our Sea Fern logo.
Our multi-day trips meet here, unless other arrangement have been made with our Reservations Team. For Day Trips, if you have time we recommend picking up your tickets here. Then, there is no need to join the check-in queue at our Kaiteriteri office and there is more time to discuss options if you have questions about your day.
We use Abel Tasman Coachlines for connections from/to Nelson, Motueka and Marahau. Information and timetables here.
Approximate driving times to Kaiteriteri or Marahau from:
*If you drive from Motueka to Marahau via Kaiteriteri, allow an extra 20 minutes for the drive.
Nelson to Motueka:
Take Highway 6 south through Richmond. At the Richmond roundabout (traffic circle), take the right-hand exit -> Highway 60. Drive northward approx 40 kms (25 miles) to the roundabout (traffic circle) at entrance to Motueka township. Take the second exit into High Street. Drive 1 km and turn right into Old Wharf Road (a clock tower on the left marks the intersection). Turn right into Old Wharf Rd and park on the street beside our office.
Motueka to Kaiteriteri:
Continue north along High Street (Hwy 60) out of Motueka for approximately 8 kms (5 miles). The highway contains several junctions but stick to the main road as it crosses the Motueka River (long, narrow 2-lane bridge), veers right through Riwaka and then crosses the Riwaka River Bridge. Two hundred metres past Riwaka bridge, turn off the highway at the right turn signposted to Abel Tasman National Park via Kaiteriteri and Marahau. Continue for 6 kms to Kaiteriteri.
Our office (open 8.30 am to last sailing, November to April) is located between the Shoreline Cafe and Kaiteriteri Camp Shop, across the road from the main beach. Address: 1 Kaiteriteri - Sandy Bay Rd. Look for our Sea Fern Logo. All day parking is available in the main carpark. There is no overnight parking between mid December to end of February. Please check in early to arrange overnight parking.
Motueka to Marahau:
From Motueka, it is quicker if you do not turn off Hwy 60 at the Kaiteriteri junction. Stay on the highway for approx 200 metres as it veers left, then take the next right-hand turn off the highway, signposted to Abel Tasman National Park via Marahau. Marahau is approximately 10 kms (6 miles) from the turnoff.
If you are in Kaiteriteri, you can continue past Kaiteriteri Beach and follow the road along the coast to Marahau (approx 8 kms, 15 minutes).
Sandy Bay Road runs through the village, along the water front, then veers away from the beach to the National Park entrance and public carpark. To avoid environmental damage and the discomfort of tidal transfers on shallow sand flats, we do not transfer passengers in the Marahau estuary. Please contact us for shuttle options to connect with our boat departures in Kaiteriteri.
