Sitting just above the tide line on the edge of a golden beach, Torrent Bay Lodge has been the Wilson family holiday home for over 30 years.
Their home has been continually extended and remodelled to be shared exclusively with visitors who stay with the Wilsons on one of their overnight trips into Abel Tasman National Park.
The Torrent Bay Lodge experience:
Far away from the hustle and bustle of town, nestled in one of the Abel Tasman’s most famous bays, Torrent Bay Lodge retains all the charm of the Wilson family's relaxing holiday home. The lodge is renowned for its hospitality and is a place you can choose to be as active or relaxed as you wish.
After your day exploring the park, whether by kayak or by foot, our warm welcome includes hot and cold drinks with delicious snacks – a reward for your efforts! Then why not laze on the sun deck or feel the sand between your toes on the beach in front of the lodge, or in winter cosy up by our open fire.
Whatever you choose, you’ll return to your home-away-from-home to savour a freshly prepared meal, local wine or beer and good company. After dinner, stay up late gazing at the stars from the deck or retire to your comfortable bed and let the waves soothe you to sleep at the end of a wonderful day.
Sleep in or watch the sun rise as you soak up the beauty and tranquillity of the park to yourself, long before the day visitors arrive, before tucking into a home-cooked kiwi breakfast with delicious selection of wholesome cereal, toast and freshly brewed coffee.
Accommodation:
Torrent Bay Lodge was the Wilson family holiday home (or bach) in 1968. Since then, they have extended and refurbished the cottage to include 13 comfortable en-suite double/twin rooms. Keeping the nautical theme, each room is named after ships that featured in the nautical history of the adjacent coastline.
Modern facilities blend with the informal atmosphere of an open dining area, mellowed with natural wood. French doors open to a deck, which continues out to the beach, perfect for morning coffee or drinks at the end of the day.
Stay with Wilsons and share seven generations of our family's personal experience and pioneering history in this very special part of New Zealand.
