Can I walk between Kaiteriteri and Mārahau?

The Abel Tasman walking track starts/finishes in Mārahau. There is no room for pedestrian pathways so it is not recommended to walk the 8.5kms on the road between Kaiteriteri and Mārahau. It is a very narrow road used by large coaches and cars with boat trailers.
