Insider Perspective

We had never been on an organised tour so were a bit unsure but It could not have been a better experience. Each day we had flexible itinerary options, food and luggage were taken care of and there was plenty of time to actively enjoy or hang out.

Beautiful experience

Booked the seals birdsong half day paddle. Our whole experience with Willsons was excellent from booking right through to safety, supplied equipment and itinerary. It was a great start to our day.

First-Rate Staff and Experience

We took the Adele Island kayak trip. Our guide provided a regular stream of helpful and interesting information about the birds, trees, plants, and seals, and also did a great job of connecting personally with all the kayakers throughout the trip. We highly recommend them.

Great Day Out

We booked to go up and down the coast on the vista cruise, but we got to change our itinerary last minute and get a 2 hour stop off at Anchorage Bay. Our kids loved it (7, 3yo) and the beach stop was much appreciated. Pack a picnic and lots of water, suncream, and layers as it gets pretty chilly in the winds. Don't forget your camera! Split apple rock, and the seals were some of the highlights

A Great Experience

A friendly group of fellow walkers, the scenery is superb, and the lodge accommodation excellent considering how remote they are. With Cyclone Gita rolling in, we never had any doubt that our guides would get us out safely.

Kids and mom kayaked and I did the hike as we all had a blast for the 3 day adventure in the Able National Park with Wilsons. Don't miss this adventure with such a professional and fun company!!

Three day Abel Tasman Walk - Amazing

What a fabulous experience. Our guides greeted us at the Wilsons office and it was immediately apparent we were going to be well looked after. The organisation was very slick from start to finish. We chose to walk the whole Abel Tasman track and were astounded by how beautiful the whole thing was. The lodges we stayed in were fabulous, with the staff looking after us superbly.

A perfect day!

We went on the kayaking tour with option for an added walk. We got a perfect guide to kayak with, and had a wonderful day at the sea. A must if you’re into enjoying nature and sea!!!

3 Day Family Kayaking Adventure

KimberlySumner | Auckland | Feb 2018
Our family of two adults and three teenagers had a recent 3-day kayak/walk trip with our gorgeous hosts Rewa, Erwin, Caleb & Mel. The trip scored 5 stars from us on account of its seamless logistics, a multitude of options (eg ability to walk track when kids got tired from kayaking). Nothing was a problem!

The Best !

I am not even sure where to begin - our family (two fifty something parents and our 18 and 21 yr old kids) did a three day walk/kayak - what a brilliant time!

Enjoyable adventure with Wilsons!

I booked a one-day pass to Abel Tasman National Park with a coach connection through my travel agent. I didn’t know what to expect prior to arriving at the park. The Wilsons staff was available upon arrival to Kauteriteri, and they explained the different options to me. I was booked by default on another trek, but the staff changed it on-site to allow me more time to hike. They also rearranged my coach connection back to Nelson at no extra charge.

I ended up taking the boat ride to the furthest point, got off at Medlands Beach, and did a trek to Anchorage (stopping at some of the viewpoints along the way). I definitely recommend this voyage, as it was a beautiful walk filled with lush landscapes, turquoise-blue vistas, and well-manicured trails. There was no shortage of breathtaking views for photos.

I had reserved a picnic lunch, which was packed to the brim with goodies (sandwich, juice, apple, quiche, scone, and cookie) and very delicious. I’m glad I did this, because food options were extremely limited if you don’t bring your own. There is nothing available along the trails and limited toilet facilities.

Overall, the staff was very friendly and made for a great experience. Special shout-out to Austen who drove the coach back to Nelson, and he was friendly, helpful, and a safe driver.

Highlight of our NZ trip

We were two adults and a 14 year old. This was a very professional company that ensured that we had fun, but ensured that we felt safe and comfortable the whole time. I thoroughly recommend this trip.

We went on the three day walk/kayaking trip. We were two adults and a 14year old. Shannon was our guide.

The preparation of the trip was very slick. The overnight bags were delivered to our hotel in Nelson even before we arrived, and the instructions were very clear.

The bus pick up was prompt and the transfers were painless. Although the sea was rough we were able to reach the start of our walk by boat. We walked the first part of our journey in mild drizzle. Shannon and Bridget were knowledgable and fun. It was an adventure to catch the boat across to our first accommodation in the rapidly changing tidal river. Awaroa lodge was lovely and comfortable. It was a pleasant surprise to meet the grandson of the original settlers there, who was able to share his perspective on the history of the place. Dinner was good and it was a great deal better than camping food!

The next day was really really wet. We decided not to kayak as it looked like it wasn't going to be much fun battling the deluge and the swell. We walked 18 km in the rain. Shannon was great in encouraging us to go through this with the spirit of adventure and it ended up to be a spectacular experience. The paths turned into rivulets and the ordinarily small streams turned into raging waterfalls. We did get wet but it was just an amazingly positive experience. Bravo to Shannon who still managed to get us hot drinks in the pouring rain. The rain stopped on cue for lunch at Bark Beach and the afternoon cleared up beautifully. We were able to bask in the sunshine that afternoon, when we reached our second accommodation. You can face up to any hardship really if you know that you will get a hot shower, a comfy bed and great dinner. Wonderfully for us, it cleared so much that at night time the sky was spectacular.

We were able to seakayak to the lovely beaches in the golden sunshine the next day. We kayaked around Adele island and saw many seals and their pups. I'm glad we chose this day to kayak as it was a much calmer sea. We kayaked the whole day until we came back to Kaiteriteri. They took us back to the airport by bus after we had time to get ready to leave.

Don't change anything.

We have taken several trips and this one surpasses them all - true adventure, comfort; incredible food - staff - guides - top to bottom friendly and helpful.
