Get out of the kitchen and into adventure!

Work in our fully equipped commercial kitchens and help to create a welcome for guests on our multiday walking and kayak/walking trips.

Wilsons Abel Tasman National Park Ltd is a family-owned business, pioneering visitor services in the Abel Tasman National Park since 1977. With this long-term vision and established systems, we are here to support you and help to expand your work experience.

We have two beachfront lodges within the boundaries of Abel Tasman National Park: Torrent Bay Lodge and Meadowbank Homestead at Awaroa. Three-day trips stay one night at each lodge. Five-day trips have two nights at each lodge. Cooks provide meals for both guests and staff. There is boat back-up for lodge supplies and luggage transfers.

Each lodge has 14 twin/double ensuite guest rooms plus staff quarters. You will live in the Abel Tasman National Park seven nights a week and then seven nights out. Your accommodation and all meals are provided while you are working on site.

Position Description
  • Provide guests with dinner, lunch and breakfast meals daily. Meals are prepared off-site, delivered as required.
  • Host visitors with a wide range of nationalities, ages and abilities.
  • Support housekeeper with room turn around daily.
  • Co-ordinate and work with your teammates: Lodge Manger, Lodge Assistant, Housekeeper, Reservations Team (based in Motueka), Boat Crew and Guides.

In addition to cooking, you will assist the housekeeper with room turn around. Each day deliveries will arrive which yourself and the housekeeper will collect with a quad bike or tractor.

Cook/Housekeeper Support Minimum Requirements
  • Previous experience handing food.
  • Knowledge of food handling.
  • Bar manager’s certificate (cost will be reimbursed once a full season is completed).
  • A valid first aid certificate.
  • Driver’s licence.
  • Work visa valid to end May 2025.
  • Due to nature of the role a minimum fitness is required.
  • Cleaning experience.
Cook/Housekeeper Support Minimum Competency

Includes but is not limited to:

  • Some plating and cooking knowledge is required.
  • Bar and host responsibility.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Fluent English speaker.

The position is full time for a fixed term commencing between September/October and running to early May 2025. We are also looking for a housekeeper/cook support so these jobs would suit a couple.
