Walk 4 hours Medlands Beach to Anchorage. Highlights: Falls River Swingbridge, Cleopatra's Pool and Torrent Bay inlet.
Check in at our Kaiteriteri ticket office 20 minutes before departure.
9.20 or 10.30am Depart Kaiteriteri
10.20 or 11.55am Arrive at Medlands Beach. Take time to enjoy your walk to Anchorage (10.6km/6.5 miles, maximum elevation 150m/500ft) on a well-formed track weaving through groves of fragrant manuka and ferns between breathtaking views of the granite coast, lush gullies of mature forest, tranquil forest pools and long golden-sand beaches.
Cross the rushing Falls River by an impressive suspension bridge (15–20m high, depending on the tide), then continue on to Torrent Bay.
At Torrent Bay, check tide timetables to decide on the the low tide or high tide route around the inlet.
The Torrent River bridge on the high tide track is under repair. An alternative option is available. This involves fording the river at the marked location on the track. There are some slippery rocks and is only only possible up to 4 hours either side of low tide. Water levels and flow may fluctuate, so proceed with caution during heavy rain.
3.35 or *5.20pm Depart Anchorage
4.15 or *6pm Return to Kaiteriteri
