Wilsons Abel Tasman's Great Taste Trio is the ideal combination of activity and indulgence in the delights of the Nelson region.

Wilsons Abel Tasman introduced the Great Taste Trio to celebrate the success and continued development of Tasman’s Great Taste Cycle Trail, as part of the country’s national cycle trail, Nga Haerenga.

Combining cycling, walking and sea kayaking to suit every taste from a family-friendly expedition to an athletic adventure, Darryl Wilson says, “we’re calling it the pleasure-seeker’s triathlon. Just the right combination of activity and indulgence in a region famous for its food, wine, culture and scenery.”

The itinerary includes two days with The Gentle Cycling Company covering Tasman’s Great Taste Trail coastal route from Nelson to Kaiteriteri. Everything is arranged, including cycle back-up and accommodation with ample opportunity to appreciate spectacular coastal scenery, artistic communities, vineyards, orchard and breweries along the way.

Trail Journeys Great Taste Trips and other local cycle tour operators offer guided and supported packages from five to seven days including cycling the coastal trail and walking and/or kayaking with Wilsons Abel Tasman’s lodge-based trips.

From Kaiteriteri, Wilsons Abel Tasman takes over with a guided 3 or 5-day journey along the coast track, staying at their Beachfront Lodges: Meadowbank Homestead – Awaroa and Torrent Bay Lodge. Qualified  Guides and Lodge Hosts help to plan each day to be as active or relaxed as desired with walking, sea kayaking and boat cruising options.

There are adventurous options with three different mountain bike terrain parks along the Great Taste Trail, and trail running choices in Abel Tasman National Park. For most travellers, no strenuous training is required, only an appetite for a civilised adventure.
