Help us create the dream for visitors to Abel Tasman National Park, travelling aboard our state-of-the-art Vista Cruise catamarans.

This position is full time, for a fixed term starting late August 2024 and running to early April or early May 2025, depending on visitor demand.

We offer the best services for visitors to Abel Tasman National Park. There is comfortable seating around tables on lower and upper viewing decks. An-board bar serves hot and cold drinks and a selection of snacks and light meals.

The customer service, equipment, safety, and training systems aboard allow you to grow into the role irrespective of previous experience.

Passengers are treated as our guests, welcomed aboard, given advice on their chosen day trip and directed to their appropriate drop-off and pick-up points. Their options can include:

  • Cruise only.
  • Cruise with beach stop.
  • Walking options from 30 minutes to 5 hours.
  • Guided sea kayaking.

You must be customer focused with the ability to communicate across a range of nationalities, ages, interests and abilities. You will be available to work weekends and public holidays.

Your Job will include:
  • Passenger check-in, ticketing, meet and greet at Kaiteriteri and in Abel Tasman National Park
  • Customer/food service and stock management on board the Vista Cruise
  • Providing comprehensive information for passengers
  • Assistance with luggage, kayak and freight transfers
  • Daily boat maintenance and cleaning
  • Operating dinghies for passenger transfers and refuelling of vessels
  • Driving tractors to launch and retrieve dinghies

Full and comprehensive training is provided for all aspects of the position. 

Minimum Requirements
  • Good computer skills
  • Driver’s license
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • Coast Guard Day Skippers Qualification or higher. If you do not currently hold any qualification it is possible to complete the Day Skipper's course online. This can be done after your interview.
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
